About Maternity Sessions

Congratulations! You're pregnant!

What an exciting time for you - I'm sure you're experiencing all the emotions and belly flutters, and can't wait for baby's soon arrival! Pregnancy and newborn photography go hand in hand so I would love to create unique and memorable images of this fleeting stage for you to cherish.

You and your partner (or family) will love the experience of having this special time documented with a fun, easy session - but one that captures all the magical feelings that come with carrying a little one inside of you. There is nothing better than capturing how in love you are with your baby-on-the-way.

Maternity sessions are best held when you are 32 - 36 weeks pregnant - before baby drops and you can't see your toes anymore. :)

STUDIO vs LOCATION

Sessions can take place in my studio or at an outdoor location such as a beach or park within a 25-30 minute drive from my studio. We are blessed to have so many gorgeous locations to choose from right on our doorstep, and they are all the better just before sunset. I love capturing the glow and beauty of pregnancy in natural light and beautiful settings more than anything.

An outdoor session is often largely dependent on the weather forecast so I suggest booking in early so that we can reschedule if need be. I usually time outdoor sessions to take place during golden hour when the light is best.

Some mums prefer a studio session, especially if they are having their hair styled and make-up done. The studio also has air-conditioning which is provides a much comfier environment for expectant mums during the hottest or coldest times of the year,

A studio session also provides a whole other aesthetic for more artsy images, and stunning black and whites. Choices, choices...

CLIENT WARDROBE

I have a range of maternity dresses in my studio wardrobe that you are welcome to make use of during your session. I recommend long, flowy, maxi-dresses that are fitted under the bust. Neutral, natural colours work well, but sometimes a splash of dark, jewel tones can add some colour and drama to a shoot. INSPIRATION FOR YOUR EXPERIENCE

Hey, let's get creative! I love it when clients have photos or ideas of what they'd like to achieve during their session.
